TBM Cutter, as called Disc cutter, disc hob is the most important rock cutting tool in a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). When a TBM excavates, the disc cutters mounted on the cutter head are propelled forward by thrust provided by an oil cylinder and pressed into the rock. Cracks initiate and propagate under the increasing pressure of cutter penetration.
